So it all started with Wolly Erwin Fritz
In 1937, Tannery Master Erwin Fritz laid the foundations for today's company Wolly Erwin Fritz GmbH & Co. KG. He had grown 27 years old and, in difficult economic times, had hardly any prospect. After consulting some of the glove manufacturers in the area, he decided to set up a leather dyeing shop in his parents' home.
The orders came quickly and the premises were too small. Together with Wilhelm Krumm, he bought a property in Neuhausen with buildings directly on the Erms channel. After the war the re-start was facilitated by the tanning of the hunting fur for the French soldiers.
In 1948 the two owners separated and Erwin Fritz built a new factory building at the current location in Ermsstrasse. Here, deer leather trousers were added to the program, which were sold at shops in the Allgäu and the surrounding area.
With the advent of Hans-Peter Kühfuß, Erwin Fritz's son-in-law, in 1962, the tanning of scaffolds was preceded. The shepherds from the Alb to the Rhine Valley used their tufted sheep and lamb fur.
Already two years later Mr. Frey from Wolly came up with orders for technical lambskin articles. He had inquiries from Daimler-Benz and BMW for the production of polishing pads made of lambskin.
When Mr. Frey handed over his company in 1984, we started to manufacture polishing pans in our company. The estimated Wolly quality was passed on by us and the name Wolly Erwin Fritz arose.
At the beginning of the nineties we extended our product range with the production of fur boots for the clothing industry. Here, lambskin collars and socks with high color fastness and washability were produced.
In 2002 Volker Kühfuß was appointed Managing Director, who then led the company together with Hans-Peter Kühfuß.
In the following years, the focus was on the distribution and production of technical lambskin products as well as polishing pads and sponges. Other industries such as shipbuilding, the aviation industry, the furniture industry and other industries were added.
With the entry of Jürgen Kühfuß in 2014, the transition to the 3rd generation was completed and the further development of the company as an innovative and reliable partner was continued.
The ISO 9001 certification and the introduction of a value-added management system underline the future viability of our company.
Today, Wolly Erwin Fritz is the leading producer of lambskin polishing pads in Europe and a respected partner for decorative lambskin products.
